Gaswerk Music Days returns in summer 2026 for its fourth edition, continuing its dynamic growth as a community-rooted festival dedicated to Radical Live Music.
Across two consecutive weekends (July 24 - August 2), the festival invites audiences to six eventful days filled with a diverse program of live concerts and other special formats.

Organised by Gaswerksiedlung Berlin, the festival unfolds across the open-air gART.n, the concert venue BLOCK1, and the surrounding creative studios - spaces that are not neutral containers, but active participants in the music-making process.

As a festival made by musicians for music lovers, open minds and curious ears, the event unites experimental electronics, African sounds, jazz, noise, avant-pop, kraut, improvisation and dance music under its “Radical Live Music” flag, binding and crossing genres in a program with over 30 acts on 2 stages.

In connection with the festival, we also organise the Spring and Autumn Gaswerk Music Concert series and other initiatives, expanding the movement into new formats and locations across Berlin.

Guided by curiosity and supported by a growing audience, we celebrate those who take risks and push boundaries, creating spaces for exchange, fostering diversity, and offering a proud alternative to a mainstream-dominated music ecosystem.

A festival day entirely devoted to live modular sound, bringing together established international artists and members of the Gaswerksiedlung community. MODULA understands synthesis as performance, circuitry as dialogue, and modular systems as instruments of intuition and open-ended experimentation - far from conventional club functionality and fully oriented towards attentive listening.

The day takes off in the open-air gART.n with two exceptional live performances by NSI. (Tobias Freund & Max Loderbauer) and OORA, before continuing indoors at BLOCK1, where Sarah Wreath, Gregorio Soave and Halosaur each present their own distinct approach to modular sound, before closing with a collective session that brings the three artists together in a shared moment of experimentation.

Curated by Halosaur, the MODULA series continues throughout the year at BLOCK1, creating an ongoing space for exchange, research and sonic exploration.

MOTHER DRUM explores rhythm as a generative force of connection and transformation. Co-curated by Dylan Greene and Romain Azzaro, and drawing from ongoing exchanges between Berlin and Kampala, the day brings together artists from the Nyege Nyege ecosystem, the Gaswerk residency program, and long-standing festival collaborations.

From the kinetic pulse of Singeli to percussion-driven live performances, hybrid formats and newly formed artistic constellations, the program unfolds through contagious energy and deep physicality. Ibaaku and K’boko return to the festival to further develop their Ancestral Futures collaboration, while residency artists including Jay Mitta, Maganda Shakul and MRUDA present both established and newly created material developed during their time at Gaswerk. Throughout the day, the same artists reappear across different configurations - in their own performances, in newly formed collaborations, and within the Radical Music Lab - creating a dense web of exchangesthat blurs the boundaries between individual projects and collective creation. Animated by the infectious sound of Azzi Onthebeat and the irresistible movement of the Pili Pili Girls, MOTHER DRUM unfolds as a celebration of rhythm in its most communal form: embodied, shared and impossible to resist.

ROOTSONIC, co-curated by Romain Azzaro and Dylan Greene, traces connections between roots and reinvention, bringing together artists whose work moves fluidly between tradition, contemporary expression and soundsystem culture. Across the day, desert blues, African dance music, MC-driven performance and newly developed residency material intersect in unexpected ways.

Voices take centre stage: sung, spoken, chanted and amplified. From the desert winds of Tissilawen to the expansive selections of Kampire, the program unfolds as a dialogue between place, memory and movement. Residency artists Mc Yallah & Scotch Rolex and Ecko Bazz present material developed during their time at Gaswerk, while these individual projects continuously spill into new collaborations and configurations through the Radical Music Lab. Together with fellow residency participants, they transform the day into a shared space of exchange, experimentation and collective creation.

Grounded in roots yet always reaching forward, ROOTSONIC explores how stories, rhythms and ideas travel across scenes, geographies and generations.

A day devoted to bands, ensembles, and instrumental constellations, shaped by experimentation, improvisation, and a strong sense of collective play. In the open-air setting of the gART.n, live bands Embryo and libelle unfold extended forms that move freely between structure and openness, drawing from kraut-inspired approaches as well as broader jazz influences and cross-cultural musical languages.
As the evening continues indoors at BLOCK1, the focus shifts towards Crazy Mega Jam, the evolving collective project curated by Andreas Völk. Emerging from the Gaswerksiedlung community and reconfigured for each edition, the ensemble brings together a core group of Gaswerk resident musicians alongside invited guests in ever-changing formations. Drawing from krautrock, electronic music and free improvisation, Crazy Mega Jam creates a space where structure and spontaneity continuously negotiate their balance, resulting in performances that are collaborative, exploratory and never quite repeatable.

Largely instrumental and often improvised, the day moves between attentive listening and shared energy - cosmic, raw, and deeply collective.

A day shaped by complex rhythmic structures, expanded instrumental approaches, and exploratory electronic forms. Across the program, sound unfolds through tension and release, precision and openness, creating a space where different musical languages meet without forcing resolution. Subtle threads of Middle Eastern and Arabic sonic elements punctuate the day without settling into fixed identities.

The afternoon unfolds in the open-air gART.n with a long-form selection by High Ends Recordings, followed by Maurice Louca Quartet presenting Barĩy (Fera) for the first time in Berlin and Burnt Friedman & João Pais Filipe. As the program moves into BLOCK1, Scott & Garafano bridge the transition with their live A/V performance, before the night expands into further dance-oriented territories.

From attentive listening to more physical moments, the day moves fluidly between concentration and immersion, allowing connections to emerge naturally across sets.

A closing chapter unfolding through slower tempos, deep frequencies, and spacious forms. Across the program, bass weight and subtle melodic gestures coexist, creating a field that is both grounded and open - inviting movement as much as attentive listening.

From the ritual-inflected sound of Holy Tongue to the sculpted landscapes of Azu Tiwaline and beyond, the day moves through groove, repetition, poetry and suspension, allowing each performance to expand in its own time and intensity. Along the way, a special appearance adds a stellar touch of play, curiosity and improvisation to the afternoon’s drift.

Taking place entirely open air in the gART.n, the final day settles into a shared atmosphere - immersive, steady and quietly charged - where sound and laughter resonate physically and collectively, and Gaswerk Music Days finds a smooth and unhurried landing.
